Deviation Actions
I'd like to emphasize this: If you like my stuff, comment. Please don't favorite it unless you've already commented. I literally say this in the description of each drawing, so everyone looking at my drawings should know this. If you fave without commenting, I won't be grateful, I'll just think you're favoriting it for the sole reason of making me want to look at your page, and I'll just consider you rude.
It doesn't have to be a long essay. Just "Good" or "I like it" is all I'm asking for. And you're welcome to favorite something after commenting.
*Note: if you're the sort of person that has commented on a number of my drawings before, this doesn't apply to you, since I'll know who you are and that you've commented on my stuff several times before. If you've done that, feel free to favorite whatever you like, I'll just think you're a fan.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I'm getting pretty annoyed that people keep doing this. If I had a choice I'd disable the favorite option altogether.

Edited - DA added an opt out
update: guess the backlash actually had an effect, they’ve added the opt out button now. so DeviantArt has gone fully evil and is now automatically submitting all art directly to AI training databases. The only option to opt out of this is to manually edit every single deviation one at a time and click the opt out button one deviation at a time. As someone who is vehemently against AI, this is basically deviantart saying you have to manually opt-out of art theft. I have a pixiv at https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/10630963 and will be looking into any other alternative sites; since it seems DeviantArt is eager to commit suicide. unless the backlash makes them reconsider (and why would it? Eclipse proves they don’t care at all what we think), I’ll be deleting my account so it can’t be used for AI data farming .
Very Close to the Last Straw
So now DeviantArt apparently has YET ANOTHER issue where replying to a post in the official forums..doesn't do anything. It LOOKS like you posted, but then you reload the page and your post is gone. Delightful. Just when I thought Eclipse was as bad as it could get. So, since I am getting VERY close to just giving up on DA altogether, my pixiv is here: https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/10630963. I plan to also create a twitter to share my art soonish. I'm sticking with DA for now since it still has the biggest audience, but if it stays as broken as it is i doubt that will remain true for long...
Requests [Closed]
I'm willing to take an art request or two to help get over my art block. Comment if you want one, I'll choose one or two to do (Again: I won’t do all the requests. I will pick one or two that sound interesting.) edit: I’ve picked one, I’ll pick one more. edit: okay, I’ve picked two, so requests are closed for now. depending how long it takes me to draw these two, I might go back and select a third as well. The ones I've decided are Rainbow for rainbowlioness50, and Meredia for mike-the-dabbler.
I hate eclipse: Commissions
As a test, I tried creating a commission, see if the commissions widget works. I have no idea where the commission went, if it worked or not, how to disable it if I decide to stop offering commissions, how to set the price, how to see if anyone used it.. nope, it's just gone. Guess if I want to offer commissions it has to be through paypal and notes, not the DeviantArt widget, since DeviantArt seems to be actively trying to stop me from using it.

Well...
I favorite things because I like things! Then they're in my favorites and I can go through them and look at them whenever I want. That makes me happy! Look at all that art I like! That's why most people favorite things. It's one of their favorite pieces of arts!
The way I treat favorites is the same way I treat comments like "Cool" or "Nice." Hey look, they like my drawing enough to call it a favorite! That's cool!
I don't comment on things very often. It's not because I don't like it, it's because I don't have anything to say! Getting a lot of comments that just say "Good job" is nice and all, but they're not meaningful at all-- Especially because faving the artwork means the same thing! In fact, a lot of artists would much rather a favorite over a generic comment.
Faving things doesn't mean "Hey, look at my page!" It means "Hey, I like this! I want this in my favorites!" Plus, a lot of people don't actually go and read descriptions before faving a deviation, so they wouldn't know that you don't like that.
That's my two cents on the matter.
